Moby (born Richard Melville Hall, September 11, 1965) is an American songwriter, musician and singer.
His parents nicknamed him Moby soon after birth, partly after the novel Moby-Dick, which was written by Herman Melville, his great-great-great-great uncle. He has also released music under the names Voodoo Child, Barracuda, Brainstorm, UHF, The Brotherhood, DJ Cake, Lopez, Mindstorm, Schaumgummi, and Pippy Baliunas.
Last Night is Moby’s ninth studio album and the first single will be “Alice“. And the second single will be “Disco Lies“.
“Last Night is basically a love letter to dance music in New York City. What I love about the New York approach to dance music is the eclecticism and the open minded-ness on the part of the musicians, the DJ’s, and the people in the bars and clubs. In making Last Night, I essentially tried to take a long 8 hour night out in New York City and condense it into a 65 minute long album.”
