Read the paper this morning and the first thing on the front page was this small column about the MB (Menteri Besar) of Perak as well as the state government, urging the Education Ministry to change the language for both Maths and Science subjects to be in malay or BM.
I”m not against the language, instead i think it’s good to learn an additional language as a Malaysian citizen. but learning maths and science in that language would certainly not reaping any benefit at the end of the day. Earlier, the government has approved English as a teaching medium for that both subjects and i think it helps the students in the future especially when they go into higher institutions or universities.
I really do not know how it’s gonna benefit the students in the long term plan. Malay is already a medium in all the subjects except for these two and now it’s gonna go back to square one again?! i guess it’s more about promoting their own language to the extent that it neglect the interest of the students’ future. nothing wrong with emphasizing but overdo it will cause harm.
I just hope it doesn’t like in this video of how hard this guy tries to read and he all stressed-out. it was shared by Andrew in my Facebook and eventhough some of you and even myself have watched it before, i still find this video very very funny. Maybe this is how it’ll be when everything is taught in malay and when it comes to english…
