Tiesto’s In Search of Sunrise: Asia (2008)

The number 7 is God’s very own number, and is associated with Divine completion and perfection ….. :) This was definitely something that would have fitted our birthday earlier this month but the tracklist wasn’t even released back then!

When we first heard rumours Tiesto was doing another ISOS we couldn’t believe it. So fast after the last installment would surely be just a rumour. But anything is possible and apparently so is a new In Search Of Sunrise :)

This time Tiesto takes us on a trip through Asia. With this concept he could create two different sets that will give the people a great impression of what its like to tour Asia. The first disc expresses the atmosphere and beauty of Asia, whereas the second is aimed to offer a great view on how energetic Asia is.

Like he said in the promotional video it starts off with some asian flutes. Don’t be scared, the Asian theme isn’t that noticeable in the music. More so in the track titles. After the intro it blends beautifully with Andy Duguid’s latest stunning creation. Andy has yet again asked the beautiful wife of Chris Lake, Gita Bakradze (Leah), to perform and write the vocals. A true proggy vocal masterpiece! The tone has been set instantly. Yohkoh is the 2nd track with an Asian title. King Unique have outdone themselves creating an ultimate crossover track which has been quickly picked up by Tiesto already last year. With a typical oldschool feel it was sure to be a winner from the get go. Next up he takes a direction that some people will find unusual.
Motorcitysoul‘Space Katzle‘ in the Sydenham Remix has been a big hit in the more underground regions of the scene.

Next up is Ton TB who has created a decent trancer, the first half of the track isn’t that interesting but you’ll forget that after hearing the second half. Rachael Starr and Jerry Ropero are two of our least favorite tracks on the first disc. We think Tiesto could’ve done something better there. The 16 Bit Lolita’s have teamed up with Eliano Daviti & Roberto Scilatti of The Veil Kings (ISOS6) to create 2 beautiful tracks on the first disc. Roberto is of course also known from ‘Loop Control’ back in the Magik days. Kamui‘Get Lifted‘ is a fan favorite that was thought to be on ISOS6 already. Tiesto is taking over next with one of his own remixes quickly followed in Airbase’s latest creation. Although we’re not big fans of Airbase’s work, this one, with his own girlfriend on the vocals, is definitely a turn for the better. It sounds like it has been done before, but
at least its a good track.

‘Dokmai‘ is the 2nd track by the 16 Bits with Eliano Daviti & Roberto Scilatti and yet again a huge fan favorite. Tiesto first spun this already in 2006 and fans have been desperately awaiting the ID since. Finishing up the first disc is Cressida with a decent trancer and a new Allure featuring Christian Burns‘ on the vox. Burns is of course known for his work with Inhaler and the Tiesto hit single ‘In The Dark’. Clouded Leopard finishes up as outro to CD1

Disc two begins with Steve Forte Rio featuring JES on the vocals. Not really vocals, more moaning but it sounds good either way. Zoo Brazil quickly follows with what can be seen as one of the best tracks of 2008 already. An amazing production by John Andersson & Johan Emmoth. Beltek surprises also with the
third track. The young Martin Bijelic from Slovenia has done an outstanding job landing one of his first releases on ISOS. Dutch upcomer Sied van Riel has kept his tune Rush safe from attention thereby
giving Tiesto one of his secret weapons from the last few months.

After ‘Rush‘ it’s time for Mat Zo’s take on Tiesto’s own ‘Driving To Heaven‘. A beautiful remix that has been in Tiesto’s box a while already. He seems to like it even more than his own Original. With Carl B following it seems more and more obvious that with this ISOS Tiesto is finally giving his most loyal fans all the tunes from the last years that they have been begging for so much.

Kimito Lopez quickly changed the artist name from Amazing Maze to his own name after hearing it would be featured on ISOS. His ‘Melkweg‘ track was already featured on Club Life last year. With JPL and Estiva Vs Marninx following we’re already halfway disc two. Newcomer Existone created a great trancer that will tear a room apart with ‘Wounded Soul‘.

For the last part of disc 2 Tiesto turns it up one final time. Andre Visior & Kay Stone got Guiseppe Ottaviani, from Nu NRG fame, to remix their track and the Italian has yet again made sure to churn out a pumping track full of energy. With Hensha‘The Curtain‘ the curtain has almost fallen on this installment of In Search Of Sunrise. An awesome trancer that sets the mood for the grand finale. A track that has been a sure hit in almost every Tiesto set of the past year. ‘Tanz Der Seele‘ is the final track of the second disc. Martin Roth sure has done an outstanding job on the remix under his Y.O.M.C. guise. With Manilla Rising as outro, Tiesto wraps up the final disc in style.

Tiesto might not be perceived as good as he used to be by a lot of people. You can always count on him to do some things (extremely) perfectly. The “In Search Of Sunrise“-series is still definitely one of those things!! Out June 10th… be SURE to pick it up

The Bangles are an all-female band that originated in the early 1980s, scoring several hit singles through much of the decade.

The only song i knew about them was ‘Eternal Flame‘, that was also popularized by Michael Learns To Rock in the 2000s. i’ve never think of dl their album until lately when i keep hearing the ringtone from one of the QS staff’s hp. so, the song actually keep playing in my head. and i’ve dl their greatest hits album to give it a try to see whether they were really that good, excluding this song.

This compilation was actually released in 1990 and contain a previously unreleased song entitled, ‘Everything I Wanted.’

Tracklist:

“Hero Takes a Fall”
“Going Down to Liverpool”
“Manic Monday”
“If She Knew What She Wants”
“Walk Like an Egyptian”

“Following”
“Hazy Shade of Winter”
“In Your Room”
“Eternal Flame”
“Be With You”
“I’ll Set You Free”
“Everything I Wanted”
“Where Were You When I Needed You”

I still can’t believe that i actually will go and dl the album… lol

Random…

5 more days and i’m off for vacation wit my sweetheart and a bunch friends. it’s been awhile since i last went for a well-deserved vacation. the last i remembered was in 2003. it means to say, i’ve never stepped out Miri land for a long time!

Well, now i can go away for a few days break which was coincidently Gawai Festival holidays. it’ll be a convoy journey by land. it’s not my first going on land for a long distance. i can say it’s my 6th time if not mistaken.

I’ll be heading to Betong (if i din get the destination’s name wrong) but too bad, won’t be heading down to Kuching. maybe some other day i guess. dun bother to ask where’s is this place, just go the Tourist Information Centre and get the map of Sarawak.

And here’s something i wanna share wit you ppl out there in case you miss it on Kennysia’s blog. it’s a song entitled “Here In My Home“, sang by 52 local artistes. you can dl it after watching the video HERE, and it’s free (Malaysian love free stuffs anyway!)

And before i end this post…

Due to John Terry’s missed penalty and he sobbed at Russia during last week UEFA Champions League Final against Man. Utd, the comrades was kind enough to produce a brand new vodka name after him;

It’s ABSOLUT Terry’s!
